The Hike Up To Sniktau

I do a lot of hiking (find me here, ) and I am always looking for more creative ways to capture whatever hike I am on. Usually that consists of simple photographs and shabby handheld video clips through my Canon t2i. I am board to tears with the results. Granted, the photography, in all its beauty, sometimes can not do what video can. My challenge on this particular hike was to actually bring a tripod with me so I could capture a select scene knowing I was going to do a “mini” time lapse. It definitely added time to the hike, but I think the results are well worth it. The tripod I used is a cheap, very small light weight stand that I will need to update. I was extremely nervous at times “balancing” my t2i and $1300 Tamron lens on it for so long. How long? I tried to set up each scene to record for about 7-10 minutes and then sped them up in post to 7-10 seconds (sometimes shorter). I love the cloud movement achieved and I think it brings a little more life to an otherwise very still landscape photo. Enjoy!
